Raja Dahir (Sindhi: राजा दाहिर, راجا ڏاھر) was an important Hindu ruler in the region of Sindh. He was the very last Hindu king to rule over Sindh and parts of Punjab. These areas are now part of modern-day Pakistan. His rule ended when the Umayyad Caliphate, a large Islamic empire, expanded into the Indian subcontinent.

Who Was Raja Dahir?
Raja Dahir was born in 663 AD in a place called Alor, in Sindh. His full name was Raja Dahar Sen. He belonged to the Brahmin dynasty, a powerful family that ruled Sindh. His father was Chach, who was also a ruler. His mother was Rani Suhanadi.
Raja Dahir's Rule
Raja Dahir became king in 685 AD. He ruled for about 27 years. During his time, Sindh was a strong kingdom. It was located in a very important area for trade and travel.
The Invasion of Sindh
In the early 8th century, the Umayyad Caliphate began to expand its empire. They wanted to control more lands, including parts of the Indian subcontinent. A general named Muhammad bin Qasim al-Thaqafi led the Umayyad army.
The Battle for Sindh
Muhammad bin Qasim's army marched towards Sindh. Raja Dahir and his forces fought bravely to defend their kingdom. The main battle took place near the Indus River in 712 AD. Sadly, Raja Dahir was killed in this battle. He was 49 years old.
End of a Kingdom
After Raja Dahir's death, his kingdom was taken over by the Umayyad Caliphate. This marked the end of the Hindu rule in Sindh. It was a big moment in the history of the region.
