Ramón Humberto Dovalina was born on July 13, 1943. He is known for being the fifth president of Laredo Community College (LCC). This college is a two-year school located in his hometown of Laredo, Texas. Its main campus is on the historic grounds of Fort McIntosh, right by the Rio Grande.
Mr. Dovalina served as president from July 5, 1995, to August 31, 2007. During his time, LCC saw many improvements. The college buildings looked much better. The fund for scholarships, which helps students pay for school, grew a lot. It went from $100,000 in 1995 to over $1 million by 2007.
He also helped the college plan for new technology over ten years. A new campus, called the South Campus, was opened. This new campus cost $50 million to build. On September 28, 2007, Mr. Dovalina and the previous president, Roger L. Worsley, were both given the title of "president emeritus." This happened during the college's sixtieth anniversary celebration.
