Ramón Humberto Dovalina, born on July 13, 1943, was the fifth president of Laredo Community College. This college is in his hometown of Laredo, Texas, right by the Rio Grande river. He led the college from July 5, 1995, until August 31, 2007.
During his time, the college looked much better. The money for student scholarships grew from $100,000 to over $1 million. The college also planned for new technology and opened a new campus called the South Campus.
On September 28, 2007, Ramón Dovalina and the previous president, Roger L. Worsley, were both given the special title of "president emeritus." This happened during the sixtieth birthday celebration of Laredo Community College.

His Uncle, Alfredo G. Dovalina
Ramón Dovalina's uncle, Alfredo G. Dovalina (1915–2017), was a very brave man. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He received three Bronze Star Medals and other awards for his courage.
Alfredo Dovalina also loved baseball. He played professional baseball for teams in Texas and Mexico. Some of these teams were in Lockhart, Fort Worth, Tampico, and Monterrey. He was so good that he was added to the Laredo Latin American Hall of Fame and the Rio Grande Valley Baseball Hall of Fame.
For 32 years, Alfredo Dovalina worked as the fire marshal in Laredo. When he passed away at 101 years old, he was the oldest living firefighter in Laredo.
