History of Randleman

The city of Randleman has had a few different names over the years.

Early Names and Mills

Around 1830, a man named Rick Dicks built a mill in the area. Because of this, the town was first called Dicks. Later, a cotton mill was built there. This led to the town being renamed Union Factory.

Becoming Randleman

The name Randleman was chosen in 1866. The town was named after John B. Randleman, who owned a mill. In 1880, the town officially became a city and was called Randleman Mills. Later, its name was shortened to simply Randleman.
