History of Rantoul
Rantoul got its first post office in 1862. The city was named after Robert Rantoul Jr., who was a senator from Massachusetts.

The schools in Rantoul closed in 1965 when school districts combined. The high school mascot for Rantoul used to be the Rantoul Bulldogs.
