Ranulf faced health challenges in the last two decades of his life. Despite his illness, he remained active in his duties.
In early 1123, Ranulf was riding with King Henry I. They were traveling from Dunstable to Berkhampstead Castle. This castle belonged to Ranulf. As they neared the castle, Ranulf fell from his horse. He sadly passed away a few days later from his injuries.
