Raven Goodwin is an American actress who started acting when she was young. She first appeared in the comedy film Lovely & Amazing in 2001. Her role in this movie earned her a nomination for an Independent Spirit Award. Later, she was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award for her part in the drama film The Station Agent.
Raven then moved to television, starring in the Nickelodeon comedy show Just Jordan from 2007 to 2008. In 2010, she started taking on more grown-up roles in the series Huge. She became widely known for her recurring role in the Disney Channel sitcom Good Luck Charlie, which she was part of from 2010 to 2014. Her biggest breakthrough came with a main role in the BET series Being Mary Jane (2013–2019), where her acting was highly praised.

Early Roles as a Child Actress (2001–2008)
Raven Goodwin began her acting career in 2001. Her first movie was the comedy-drama Lovely & Amazing, where she played Annie Marks. People really liked Raven's performance in this film. She received several award nominations, including one for a Black Reel Award and another for an Independent Spirit Award. Critics from The New York Times and Empire magazine praised her acting.
In 2003, Raven was cast as Cleo in Tom McCarthy's independent comedy-drama The Station Agent. This movie was filmed in the same year. Both The Station Agent and the actors' performances were highly praised when the film was released. Raven earned a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination for her role. This made her one of the youngest actresses ever to be nominated for this award. Film critic Roger Ebert noted that Raven, like her co-star Peter Dinklage, had a special and strong presence on screen.

In 2010, Raven Goodwin took on the main role of Becca in the sitcom Huge. The show ran for one season and was watched by about a million people per episode. Later that year, Raven joined the Disney Channel sitcom Good Luck Charlie in a recurring role as Ivy Wentz. After this, she played Sheila on Fox's comedy-drama Glee for three episodes. She also appeared as Desiree in the American sitcom New Girl. Her role on Good Luck Charlie was especially well-received.
In 2013, Raven was cast in a main role as Niecy Patterson in the American drama series Being Mary Jane. She played this character until the show ended in 2019. Being Mary Jane was very popular and broke records for the BET network. This show helped Raven become recognized for more mature roles. She mentioned that moving from Disney to Being Mary Jane felt natural and necessary for her career.
In 2017, she was cast as Eliza in the American TV show SMILF. She was first a recurring character but became a regular for the second season. The series ran for two years. SMILF received a lot of praise and even a Golden Globe Award nomination. Raven also had a small role as Lew in the 2017 action-comedy film Snatched.
