Raven Rock is a small, quiet community in New Jersey. It's often called a hamlet because it's a tiny village without its own local government. You can find it right next to the Delaware River, about 3 miles north of a town called Stockton. This special place is part of Delaware Township in Hunterdon County. It's also home to the beautiful Bull's Island Recreation Area, a great spot for outdoor fun! The community gets its name from a large rock formation nearby. This rock is part of the Hunterdon Plateau, a high, flat area of land.

Connecting to Pennsylvania

The Lumberville–Raven Rock Bridge is a special bridge that crosses the Delaware River. It's a free bridge, meaning you don't have to pay to cross it. This bridge is only for people walking or biking, not cars. It connects the Bull's Island Recreation Area in New Jersey to a town called Lumberville in Pennsylvania. This bridge used to be a road bridge for cars from 1856 to 1944.

Train History

For many years, from 1852 to 1952, a train company called the Pennsylvania Railroad had a stop in Raven Rock. This allowed people to travel to and from the community by train. After 1952, the trains stopped carrying passengers, but they still moved goods until 1978. Later, in the early 1980s, the train tracks were removed. Now, where the tracks once were, there's a fun trail for people to enjoy.

Historic Buildings

The Raven Rock Historic District is a special area in the community. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 10, 2015. This means the buildings and area are important because they show how the community grew and how buildings were designed a long time ago. It helps protect these old and interesting places for the future.
