Ravenswood is a small town in the Peel region of Western Australia. It is located along Pinjarra Road. The town sits right on the banks of the Murray River.
History of Ravenswood
The name Ravenswood comes from a property started by Adam Armstrong. He set up this property in the 1840s. Armstrong was one of the first settlers who came with Thomas Peel on the ship Gilmore in 1829.
In the 1960s, the land in the area was divided into smaller pieces. The local government, called the Shire, asked for it to be officially named a town. Ravenswood was officially declared a town in 1970. This official declaration is called "gazetting."
People and Community
