Ray Mitchell Agnew III, born on February 26, 1991, is an American football expert. He used to play as a fullback and now works as a pro scout for the New York Jets in the National Football League (NFL).

He played college football for the Southern Illinois Salukis team. After college, he joined the Cleveland Browns in 2014, even though he wasn't chosen in the main draft.

Early Life and High School Sports

Ray Agnew III was born on February 26, 1991, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He went to De Smet Jesuit High School and played high school football for the Spartans.

He was a key player on his high school team. He started for three years as a running back and two years as a linebacker. He was also chosen twice for the first-team all-Metro Catholic Conference. Ray was also good at track & field. He threw the shot put 14.78 meters (about 48 feet, 3 inches) in a competition in 2009, where he finished third.

College Football Career

Ray Agnew played college football for the Southern Illinois Salukis from 2010 to 2013. In 2009, he was "redshirted," which means he practiced with the team but didn't play in games. This allowed him to gain an extra year of eligibility.

Playing in the NFL

After college, Ray Agnew played for a few teams in the NFL.

Cleveland Browns

The Cleveland Browns signed Ray Agnew on May 12, 2014. He had not been picked by any team in the 2014 NFL draft. He played his first NFL game on September 7, 2014, against the Pittsburgh Steelers. In that game, he ran for two yards on one try.

The Browns let him go on October 20, 2014, but then signed him again on November 11, 2014. He was released by the Browns for the final time on December 23, 2014.

Dallas Cowboys

Ray Agnew signed with the Dallas Cowboys on March 13, 2015. However, he was released by the Cowboys on September 5, 2015, before the regular season began.

Washington Redskins

The Washington Redskins signed Ray Agnew to their practice squad on September 7, 2015. A practice squad is a group of players who train with the team but are not on the main roster. He was released by the Redskins just eight days later, on September 15, 2015.

Working Behind the Scenes

After his time as a player, Ray Agnew started a new career working for NFL teams.

New York Jets Executive Role

He joined the New York Jets as a seasonal personnel assistant. This job involves helping with the team's staff and players. In 2019, the Jets hired him full-time. He now works as a pro scout in their scouting department. A pro scout watches other professional players to help their team decide who to sign or trade for.
