Raymond Jones (born December 24, 1947) is a former American football player. He played as a defensive back in the National Football League (NFL) for four seasons. His teams included the Philadelphia Eagles, Miami Dolphins, San Diego Chargers, and New Orleans Saints. He was chosen by the Eagles in the 1970 NFL draft after playing college football at Southern University.

Early Life and College Years
Raymond Jones was born on December 24, 1947. His hometown was Lufkin, Texas. He went to Peabody Magnet High School in Alexandria, Louisiana.
From 1966 to 1969, Jones played college football. He was part of the Southern Jaguars team. This team represents Southern University.
Playing in the NFL and Other Leagues
Raymond Jones was picked by the Philadelphia Eagles in the 1970 NFL draft. He was an early pick in the second round.
Time with the Philadelphia Eagles
In 1970, Jones played 12 games for the Eagles. He started ten of those games. During this season, he made two interceptions. He also recovered one fumble. He was released by the Eagles in 1971. For part of 1970, he also played for the Pennsylvania Firebirds. This team was in the Atlantic Coast Football League.
Moving to Other NFL Teams
Jones joined the Miami Dolphins in 1971. He played in two games for them that year. After a short time, he was waived by the team.
Later in 1971, the San Diego Chargers picked him up. He played in all 14 games for the Chargers in 1972. He started four games that season. He recovered two fumbles for the team.
In 1973, the Denver Broncos acquired Jones. However, he was later released by them. He then signed with the New Orleans Saints in 1973. He played in two games for the Saints. He was released by them later that same year.
Playing in Other Football Leagues
In 1974, Jones signed with the Edmonton Eskimos. This team is part of the Canadian Football League. He was later released from that team.
He then joined the Portland Storm in 1974. This team was in the World Football League. For the Storm, he had one interception. He also returned one punt.
In 1975, Jones signed with the Green Bay Packers. However, he was released by them before playing any games.
