ReBecca Hunt-Foster is an American paleontologist. This means she is a scientist who studies ancient life, especially dinosaurs. She has explored many places in the United States, like the Colorado Plateau and the Rocky Mountains. ReBecca has worked with dinosaur bones from the Late Jurassic and Late Cretaceous periods. She helped describe a dinosaur called Arkansaurus fridayi. In 2008, she also found the first young Torosaurus dinosaurs in Big Bend National Park.

What ReBecca Hunt-Foster Does

ReBecca Hunt-Foster has a very exciting job! She works as a paleontologist for the National Park Service. Since August 2018, she has been at Dinosaur National Monument. This park is famous for its amazing dinosaur fossils.

Her Journey to Paleontology

ReBecca studied Earth Sciences at the University of Arkansas. She earned her first degree there in 2003. Later, she got her master's degree in Geology from Texas Tech University in 2005.

Before working at Dinosaur National Monument, ReBecca had other important roles. From 2013 to 2018, she was the district paleontologist for the Bureau of Land Management in Utah. She also managed fossil collections at the Museums of Western Colorado for five years.

Her Dinosaur Discoveries

ReBecca's research focuses on many different types of dinosaurs. She studies early ornithomimosaurs from North America. These dinosaurs looked a bit like ostriches. She also explores fossils from the Upper Cretaceous period in western Colorado.

Before moving to Utah, ReBecca worked at Augustana College. There, she studied horned dinosaurs from the Late Cretaceous period. She also helped prepare the bones of Cryolophosaurus. This was the first dinosaur ever found in Antarctica! ReBecca has even worked on ancient stromatolites and the geology of Glacier National Park.

Books She Has Written

ReBecca Hunt-Foster has also shared her knowledge in books. She co-wrote a chapter called "Behavioral interpretations from chasmosaurine ceratopsid bonebeds: a review." This was for the 2010 book New Perspectives on Horned Dinosaurs.
