The Red Sky Music Festival was a fun music event held every year in Omaha, Nebraska. It took place at TD Ameritrade Park in 2011 and 2012. The festival brought together many different types of music. Each night, a famous band or singer would perform. During the day, other bands, both local and national, played on stages around the stadium.
The festival wanted to show off many music styles. Big names like Journey and Def Leppard played rock music. Country stars like Jason Aldean and Brad Paisley also performed. Even local favorites like 311 were part of the show. It was also a great chance for local artists to share their music. The idea for the festival came from Summerfest in Milwaukee.
In October 2012, the organizers announced that the Red Sky Music Festival would not happen again. It was hard to schedule artists because of their summer tours. Also, the hot July weather was a challenge. They said that concerts would still happen at TD Ameritrade Park. However, they would not be in a festival style. This would give them more freedom for future shows.

Red Sky Music Festival: The First Year (2011)
In 2011, the festival's first year, the organizers hoped to have over 50 bands. They planned for three stages. Local bands played in the early afternoon. National acts performed later in the day. A main headliner closed each night inside TD Ameritrade Park.
The festival ended up having 37 local bands and 35 national acts. The last day of the festival only featured local artists. Some well-known national performers included Sister Hazel, John Ondrasik of Five for Fighting, George Clinton & Parliament-Funkadelic, Tonic, The Charlie Daniels Band, STS9, and Bruce Hornsby and the Noisemakers. Guitar legends Eric Johnson and Buddy Guy also played.

The 2012 festival was planned to be shorter. It went from six days to four days, from July 18-21. Then it was shortened again to just three days. This happened because they could not find a main band for Thursday, July 19.
Only the B Stage returned in 2012. The bands scheduled for this stage were not as famous as those from the year before. Good news for fans: admission to the B stage was free! This was made possible by TD Ameritrade.
