The Sphaerodactylus notatus, also known as the Florida reef gecko or brown-speckled sphaero, is a tiny type of gecko. It naturally lives in the Caribbean region.

Where It Lives: The Gecko's Home

This small gecko can be found in Cuba and the Bahamas. It is also seen in Key West, Florida, in the United States. Scientists believe it arrived in Florida around 1878. This likely happened when ships traveled often between Florida and Cuba.

You can find these geckos in different places. They live in natural areas like damp forests. They also live in places made by people. Look for them under logs or inside hollow logs.

About the Florida Reef Gecko

The Sphaerodactylus notatus is a very small lizard. It is usually about two inches long. That's about the length of your thumb! This tiny gecko enjoys eating insects and spiders.
