Reginald Leon Williams II (born September 14, 1986) is an American former professional basketball player. He played for seven seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA) with five different teams. Before turning pro, he played college basketball at the Virginia Military Institute (VMI). There, he became the school's all-time top scorer and was the leading scorer in the country twice!

Early Life and High School Basketball
Reggie Williams grew up in Prince George, Virginia. He went to Prince George High School. In his senior year, he was an amazing player. He averaged over 20 points, 13 rebounds, and 8 assists per game. He even made 41 three-pointers that season! Reggie played many different positions, from point guard to center. His skills helped his team achieve a great 22–5 record. They even made it to the Central region quarterfinals.
College Career at VMI
After high school, Reggie attended the Virginia Military Institute (VMI). He played for the VMI Keydets team. VMI was known for its fast-paced style of play. Reggie quickly became a star. He led the entire NCAA in scoring for two years in a row!
In April 2007, Reggie thought about leaving college early for the NBA draft. But he decided to stay for his senior year. This was a great choice. On March 1, 2008, he made history. Reggie became the all-time leading scorer in NCAA Division I for the state of Virginia. He finished his college career with an incredible 2,526 points. Reggie graduated from VMI with a degree in psychology. His jersey number, 55, was later retired by VMI to honor his achievements.
Professional Basketball Journey
Reggie Williams was not chosen in the 2008 NBA draft. However, he did not give up on his dream. He started his professional career in France. He signed with the team JDA Dijon.
Playing in the NBA D-League
After playing in France, Reggie came back to the United States. He joined the NBA Development League, also known as the D-League. He was drafted by the Sioux Falls Skyforce. Reggie played very well there. He averaged 26 points and 5.7 rebounds per game. His strong performance caught the attention of NBA teams.
Time with the Golden State Warriors
On March 2, 2010, Reggie signed a short contract with the Golden State Warriors. He played so well that they signed him for the rest of the season. He became a restricted free agent in 2011. This meant the Warriors could keep him if they matched other teams' offers.
Moving to Other NBA Teams
After a brief time playing in Spain for Caja Laboral during an NBA lockout, Reggie returned to the NBA. In December 2011, he signed a two-year deal with the Charlotte Bobcats. He later signed with the Houston Rockets in 2013, but was waived before the season started.
Reggie then spent time with the Tulsa 66ers in the D-League. He also had short contracts with the Oklahoma City Thunder. In 2014, he played for the San Miguel Beermen in the Philippines. He also signed with the Miami Heat but was waived before the season.
In 2015, Reggie joined the San Antonio Spurs. He signed a few short contracts before signing for the rest of the season. He was waived by the Spurs in October 2015.
Later Career and International Play
Reggie continued his career playing for different teams. In 2016, he played for Avtodor Saratov in Russia. He also had another stint with the Oklahoma City Blue. In December 2016, he signed with the New Orleans Pelicans. He played five games for them before returning to the Oklahoma City Blue.
In 2019, Reggie joined Science City Jena in Germany. He later played for Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus in South Korea in 2020. He officially retired from professional basketball in 2019.
The Basketball Tournament
In 2017, Reggie Williams took part in The Basketball Tournament. This is a special competition where teams compete for a $2 million prize. The tournament is shown on ESPN. Reggie played for a team called Ram Nation. He averaged 14.8 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. Ram Nation made it all the way to the Elite 8! They were eventually beaten by the team that won the tournament, Overseas Elite.
Playing for Team USA
Reggie Williams also had the honor of representing his country. He played for the senior United States national team. In 2017, he competed in the 2017 FIBA AmeriCup. His team won a gold medal at this important international competition!
