Remo Marco Freuler was born on April 15, 1992. He is a professional football player from Switzerland. Remo plays as a midfielder for the Italian club Bologna. He also plays for the Swiss national team. Before joining the main national team, he played for Switzerland's Under-19 and Under-21 teams.

Remo's Club Journey
Remo Freuler started playing football in his youth with FC Hinwil. In 2005, he moved to another club in Zürich, FC Winterthur.
Starting with Winterthur
Remo made his first professional appearance for Winterthur when he was 18 years old in 2010. He played two short games as a substitute. Later that year, he moved to Grasshoppers. He mostly played for their Under-21 team. He did play a few games for the main Grasshoppers team and even scored a goal against their rivals, FC Zürich.
In the winter of 2011, Remo went back to Winterthur on loan. The team was struggling, close to the relegation zone. He played 14 games that season. On March 4, 2012, he scored two goals in one game against Kriens. Winterthur ended up finishing fourth. Remo became a permanent player for Winterthur. He played 21 more games for them before moving to Super League team FC Luzern.
Playing for Luzern
On February 18, 2014, Remo joined Luzern. He played his first game for them on March 2. He scored his first goal for Luzern on April 6 against Young Boys. Luzern finished the 2013–14 season in fourth place.
In the next season, Remo scored seven goals and helped with five assists for Luzern. The team improved a lot under their new manager, Markus Babbel. Remo played every game under Babbel before he moved to an Italian club, Atalanta B.C..
Time at Atalanta

On January 19, 2016, Remo Freuler joined Atalanta. The transfer fee was about €2 million. He played his first Serie A game on February 7 against Empoli. An Italian journalist gave him the nickname Iceman. Remo said this was "because I was so calm on the ball." He scored his first goal for Atalanta on May 2 against Napoli.
In the 2016–17 season, Remo started 29 games. Atalanta finished fourth in the league, a big improvement. They also qualified for the Europa League group stages for the first time since 1990. Remo scored five goals and made four assists that season. On April 28, he scored a late goal against Juventus, stopping them from winning the league title that weekend.
Remo played his first Europa League group stage game against Everton, winning 3–0. He scored his first goal in the 2017–18 season for Atalanta against Fiorentina. He scored a goal in the last minutes of the game on September 24, 2017.
Moving to Nottingham Forest
On August 14, 2022, Remo Freuler joined Premier League club Nottingham Forest. He left Atalanta after playing there for six and a half seasons.
Playing for Bologna
On September 1, 2023, Remo returned to Italy. He joined Serie A club Bologna on loan. This move was part of a deal where another player, Nicolás Domínguez, went to Nottingham Forest. Later, his move to Bologna became permanent.
Remo's International Career
Remo Freuler played for Switzerland's youth teams before joining the main senior squad. He was called up for the first time during Switzerland's qualifying games for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. He made his debut for the Swiss team on March 25, 2017. He came on as a substitute in a 1–0 win against Latvia.
He was part of Switzerland's team for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. He was a substitute in all four games as Switzerland reached the Round of 16.
On March 26, 2019, Remo scored his first goal for Switzerland. It was in a 3–3 draw with Denmark during UEFA Euro 2020 qualifying.
In May 2019, he played in the 2019 UEFA Nations League Finals, where his team finished fourth.
Remo was chosen for the 26-player Swiss team for UEFA Euro 2020. He started all five games for Switzerland. On July 2, 2021, in the quarter-final against Spain, he helped set up Xherdan Shaqiri's goal. He was later sent off from the game. The match ended 1–1 and went to a penalty shoot-out, where Spain won.
Remo was also in Switzerland's team for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. He played his 50th game for the national team in their first match against Cameroon on November 24, 2022. In their last group game, he scored the winning goal in a 3–2 win against Serbia. This win helped Switzerland move to the knockout stage.
On June 7, 2024, Remo was named in the Swiss team for UEFA Euro 2024 in Germany. He started the first game against Hungary, helping with an assist in a 3–1 win. In the Round of 16 match against Italy, he scored his first goal in the European competition. Switzerland won 2–0, which was their first win against Italy since 1993.
