What Kind of Car Was the Safrane?
The Renault Safrane was designed as a five-door car. It had a special back that could be either a liftback or a notchback. This meant the back opened up like a hatchback, making it easy to load things.
Engine and Drive
Most Safrane cars had their engine at the front and sent power to the front wheels. This is called front-wheel drive. Some special versions also had four-wheel drive, which means power goes to all four wheels. This can be helpful for better grip on slippery roads.
When Was the Safrane Made?
The Renault Safrane was produced for about eight years. It started being made in 1992 and the last ones rolled off the production line in 2000.
Updates Over Time
During its production, the Safrane received an update in 1996. This update, often called a "facelift," usually means the car gets small changes to its look, like new headlights or bumpers, to keep it looking modern.
Where Does the Safrane Fit in Renault's History?
The Safrane played an important role in Renault's line-up of cars. It was their top-of-the-range executive car for many years.
Before the Safrane
Before the Safrane, Renault's large executive car was the Renault 25. The Safrane was designed to be a more modern and updated version of that car.
After the Safrane
After the Safrane stopped being made in 2000, Renault introduced the Renault Vel Satis in 2001. The Vel Satis was a very different looking car, showing how car designs can change over time.
