The Renault Vel Satis was a special type of car called an executive car. This means it was a large, fancy car, often used by business people or for important trips. The French company Renault made it.
The Vel Satis was first shown at the Geneva Motor Show in 2001. It was made to take the place of another car, the Safrane. Before it became a real car, a special "concept car" version was shown in 1998 at the Paris Motor Show. However, the car that was actually sold looked quite different from this early idea.
The name "Vel Satis" combines parts of the words Velocity (meaning speed) and Satisfaction. This car was the most important model Renault made at that time. It was also the first Renault car to have a smart feature called Adaptive cruise control. This system helps the car keep a safe distance from the car in front. A special Vel Satis was even used by the President of France until 2009.
