The Renous River is a cool river in New Brunswick, Canada. It's like a smaller stream that flows into a bigger one, the Southwest Miramichi River. Think of it as a helper river!

This river starts way up high in the Appalachian Mountains. It begins near a place called Holmes Lake. This area is in the northwest part of Northumberland County.

The Renous River actually has two main parts: the North Renous and the South Renous. These two parts join together. Then, the river flows through thick forests. Finally, it meets the Southwest Miramichi River. This happens near a village called Quarryville in Renous.

Fishing for Atlantic Salmon

The Renous River is super famous for Atlantic salmon fishing! Many people come here just to try and catch these amazing fish.

When to Find Salmon

Every year, Atlantic salmon swim up the river. This special journey happens from June all the way through October. So, you can find them in the summer and early autumn.

Rules for Fishing

If you want to fish for salmon here, there are some important rules. You can only use a special type of fishing called fly fishing. This means you use a lightweight line and an artificial fly to trick the fish. Also, if you catch a really big salmon, you must let it go. This helps keep the salmon population healthy.

Best Time to Fish

Fishing for salmon on the Renous River is often best after a "spate." A spate is when the river water level rises quickly, usually after a lot of rain. This can make the salmon more active.

Popular Fishing Flies

Fishermen use different types of artificial flies to catch salmon. Some popular ones on the Renous River include the Black Bear series, Butterfly, and Silver Cosseboom. If the water levels are normal, small deer-hair Buck Bugs are a good choice. There's even a special fly created just for this river, called the Renous Special!

River Branches

The Renous River system is made up of several smaller rivers and streams that flow into it. These are called tributaries.
