The Rhinella achavali is a special type of toad that lives in parts of South America. It belongs to a group of toads called Bufonidae, which are often known as "true toads."
You can find this toad mainly in Uruguay and the southernmost part of Brazil, especially in a state called Rio Grande do Sul.
About the Rhinella achavali Toad
Rhinella achavali is a fascinating amphibian. It was first officially described in 2004 by scientists Maneyro, Arrieta, and de Sá. This means they were the first to give it its scientific name and describe its features.
Where Do They Live?
These toads love to be near small streams in forests. They often live right in the water or very close to it. This makes their habitat, or home, quite specific.
While you might find many of them in certain areas, their forest homes are facing some challenges. Plantations of trees that are not native to the area can threaten their natural living spaces.
