Ribstone is a small place located in central Alberta, Canada. It is known as a "locality," which means it's a small community without its own local government. Ribstone used to be called a "hamlet."
This community is about 16 kilometers (10 miles) south of Highway 14. It is also about 65 kilometers (40 miles) southwest of the city of Lloydminster.
Ribstone's History
Ribstone was first settled in 1905. The early settlers traveled there by wagon. For many years, Ribstone was officially known as a "hamlet." A hamlet is a small community that is part of a larger municipal district.
However, on January 21, 2024, the Municipal District (MD) of Wainwright No. 61 changed Ribstone's official status. It is now considered a "locality" instead of a hamlet.
