Ricardo Julio Villa (born 18 August 1952), often known as Ricky Villa, is a famous Argentine football coach and former professional midfielder. He played football for many years, from 1970 to 1989, and is remembered for his amazing skills on the field.

Ricky Villa's Football Journey
Ricky Villa was born in Roque Pérez, a town in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He started his football career in the 1970s. He played for several teams in Argentina, including Quilmes, Atlético de Tucumán, and Racing Club.
Winning the World Cup
In 1978, Ricky Villa was part of the Argentine national team. This team won the 1978 FIFA World Cup, which is one of the biggest football tournaments in the world! Ricky played in two matches during the tournament. After this big win, he became very well-known.
Playing for Tottenham Hotspur
After the World Cup, Ricky Villa moved to England to play for Tottenham Hotspur. He joined another Argentine player, Ossie Ardiles, at the club. Fans were very excited when they arrived.
Ricky scored a goal in his very first game for Tottenham. He played 179 games for the team and scored 25 goals. One of his most famous goals was the winning goal in the 1981 FA Cup Final replay against Manchester City. This goal was so special that it won the "Wembley goal of the century" award in 2001!
Life After Tottenham
After playing for Tottenham, Ricky Villa continued his football career. He played in Argentina, Colombia, and the United States. He finished his playing days in Argentina with Defensa y Justicia.
Later in his life, Ricky became involved in public life. In 2005, he became a technical secretary for a football club called Talleres de Córdoba. He lives in Villa Carlos Paz with his wife and four children.
In 2007, FIFA, the world's football governing body, announced that all players from World Cup-winning teams before 1982 would receive World Cup winner medals. This meant Ricky Villa officially received his medal for the 1978 World Cup win.
In 2008, Ricky Villa and Ossie Ardiles were honored by Tottenham Hotspur. They were both added to the Tottenham Hotspur Hall of Fame, which is a special recognition for the club's greatest players.
