Richard Charles Houston (born November 16, 1945 – died December 11, 1982) was an American football player. He played as a wide receiver for five seasons with the New York Giants in the National Football League (NFL).
Rich Houston's Early Life and College
Richard Houston was born in Texarkana, Texas. He went to Dunbar High School in his hometown. After high school, he continued his football journey at East Texas State University. There, he played college football for the East Texas State Lions.
Playing in the NFL
In 1969, Rich Houston was chosen by the New York Giants in the fourth round of the 1969 NFL Draft. This meant he was picked as the 92nd player overall in that year's draft. He played for the Giants from 1969 to 1973, spending five seasons in the NFL. During his time, he was known for his speed and ability to catch passes as a wide receiver.
Later Life
Rich Houston's professional football career ended after the 1973 season. Sadly, he passed away on December 11, 1982, at the age of 37, due to a car accident.
