Richard Lamont Jordan, born on December 1, 1974, is a former American football player. He played as a linebacker in the National Football League (NFL). Jordan spent four seasons with the Detroit Lions. The Lions chose him in the seventh round of the 1997 NFL draft. Before joining the NFL, he played college football at Missouri Southern State College.

Richard Lamont Jordan was born in Holdenville, Oklahoma, on December 1, 1974. He went to Vian High School in Vian, Oklahoma.
Playing for Missouri Southern Lions
Jordan was a key player for the Missouri Southern Lions. He played for them from 1993 to 1996. In 1995, he made eight sacks. This earned him the MIAA Co-Defensive Player of the Year award.
College Achievements and Recognition
In 1996, his senior year, Jordan recorded 136 tackles. He was named the MIAA Defensive Player of the Year again. He finished his college career with an impressive 406 tackles and 20 sacks. In 2006, he was honored by being inducted into the Missouri Southern athletics hall of fame.
Richard Jordan's Professional Football Career
The Detroit Lions picked Richard Jordan in the seventh round of the 1997 NFL draft. He was the 239th player chosen overall. He officially joined the team on May 22, 1997.
Time with the Detroit Lions (First Stint)
Jordan was first released by the Lions in August 1997. However, he quickly rejoined their practice squad. By September 27, he was moved to the main team. He played in ten games during the 1997 season. He also played in one playoff game that year.
In 1998, Jordan played in all 16 games for the Lions. He started four of those games and made one interception. He appeared in nine games in 1999. During these games, he had eight solo tackles and four assisted tackles. He was later placed on injured reserve in November 1999.
Moving to the Kansas City Chiefs
After the 1999 season, Jordan became a free agent. He signed with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2001. However, he was released by the Chiefs in September 2001. He signed with them again in January 2002 but was released once more in September 2002.
Return to the Detroit Lions (Second Stint)
Richard Jordan signed with the Detroit Lions again on October 2, 2002. He played in one game for the Lions, where he made one solo tackle. He was placed on injured reserve later that month. After the 2002 season, he became a free agent.

Richard Jordan has a son named Richard Jordan Jr. His son also played football at Missouri Southern, just like his father.
