Richdale is a small community, also known as a hamlet, located in the eastern part of central Alberta, Canada. It's found within a special area called Special Area No. 2. You can find Richdale along Highway 9, about 24 kilometers (15 miles) east of the Town of Hanna and 29 kilometers (18 miles) west of the Village of Youngstown. It's also about 130 kilometers (81 miles) north of the City of Brooks.

Richdale's History

Richdale wasn't always just a hamlet. For a time, it was an incorporated community, which means it had its own local government, much like a small town or city.

From Village to Hamlet

Richdale officially became a village in 1916. This was an important step, as it allowed the community to manage its own services and local matters. However, on June 2, 1931, Richdale changed its status. It was dissolved from being a village and became a hamlet again. This means it no longer had its own separate local government and became part of a larger administrative area.

People of Richdale

Understanding the number of people living in a place is called demographics. It helps us learn about communities and how they change over time.

Population Count

In the year 1991, Statistics Canada conducted a count of all the people living in Canada. This is known as the 1991 Census of Population. During this census, Richdale recorded a population of 14 people. This shows that Richdale is a very small and quiet community.
