Rick's Café Casablanca is a famous restaurant, bar, and café in Casablanca, Morocco. It opened on March 1, 2004. This special place was made to look just like the bar from the classic movie Casablanca. That movie starred famous actors Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman. A company called The Usual Suspects owns it. Many people call it the 'real' Rick's Café, bringing the movie to life!

What Rick's Café Looks Like
Rick's Café Casablanca was created by Kathy Kriger (1946–2018). She was an American diplomat who worked in Morocco. The restaurant is inside a beautiful old Moroccan mansion built in 1930. This type of house is called a riad, which means it has a central courtyard.
The mansion has two palm trees by its front door. It also has three sides that face different areas. One side has a special entrance with heavy wooden doors, just like in the movie. Another side looks out towards the Atlantic Ocean.
How the Building Was Restored
Because the building was old and close to the sea, it needed a lot of work. It was completely fixed up and made new again. An American architect named Bill Willis designed the inside. He made sure it looked like the movie set.
You can see curved arches, a fancy bar, and balconies. There are also special lights that make cool shadows on the white walls. A real 1930s Pleyel piano sits inside. People often ask the pianist to play the famous song As Time Goes By.
Moroccan Art and Design
Rick's Café also shows off Morocco's amazing craft skills. You'll find lots of beautiful tile and wood work. The fireplaces are made of carved marble or painted tadelakt. Tadelakt is a special plaster used in Morocco.
Intricate zellij tile patterns decorate the fireplaces and the stairs. The walls are covered in soft-colored tadelakt. The floors are made of handmade terra cotta tiles.
Delicious Food at Rick's Café
The food at Rick's Café uses lots of fresh seafood from Morocco. The menu has many fish dishes. You can find traditional Sole meunière or John Dory fish with black pepper and thyme.
They also serve steaks and foie gras. You can try a goat cheese salad with fresh figs. An American Crab Louie is another popular choice. For dessert, they have Rick's Cheesecake and Brownies. They also offer special desserts made with local fresh fruit.
Live Music and Fun
Issam Chabaa plays the piano every night from Tuesday to Sunday. He plays classic songs from the 1940s and 1950s. This includes French, Spanish, and Brazilian tunes. He also plays American favorites like Summertime and Blue Moon. Of course, he plays As Time Goes By many times each night!
Sunday night is a special Jam session. Musicians visiting Casablanca and local players join Issam for jazz music. When the live music isn't playing, you'll hear background music from classic big bands.
