The River Brett begins its path near the villages north of Lavenham. This is where its source, or starting point, is found. From there, it travels through different places like Monks Eleigh, Brent Eleigh, and Chelsworth.

One of the main towns the river flows through is Hadleigh. After passing through these areas, the River Brett eventually meets the River Stour near Higham. This meeting point is called its confluence.
