The Rivière du Sud-Ouest is a river in Quebec, Canada. Its name means "River of the South-West" in English. This river is a branch of the larger Yamaska River. It flows through the Montérégie region, which is located on the South Shore of the famous Saint Lawrence River.
The Rivière du Sud-Ouest travels northeast through a few different towns. These include Farnham, Sainte-Brigide-d'Iberville, and Saint-Césaire. Each of these towns is part of a larger area called a Regional County Municipality.

Where Does the River Flow?
The Rivière du Sud-Ouest starts from small streams in farm areas. These streams are near a tiny place called Ménardville. This spot is west of Farnham.
River's Journey
From its start, the river flows north for about 5.9 kilometers. It passes by the Canadian National Railway tracks. Then, it continues north for 3.0 kilometers. It crosses Quebec Route 104 in the village of Sainte-Brigide-d'Iberville.
The river then flows north for another 3.6 kilometers to Martel Creek. After that, it turns northeast for 2.4 kilometers, passing under Quebec Autoroute 10. Finally, it travels northeast for 3.5 kilometers until it reaches its end.
Where the River Ends
The Rivière du Sud-Ouest joins the Yamaska River in the town of Saint-Césaire. This meeting point is on the west side of the Yamaska River. It's about 2.6 kilometers upstream from the bridge in Saint-Césaire.

River's Name History
The name "Rivière du Sud-Ouest" was officially recorded on December 5, 1968. This was done by the Commission de toponymie du Québec. This group is in charge of naming places in Quebec.
