Roaring Gap is a small, unincorporated community in Alleghany County, North Carolina, United States. It is located near the border with Wilkes County, North Carolina. Roaring Gap is known for its three private golf communities. It is a popular place for people to visit and stay during the summer months.

Discovering Roaring Gap's Past

Roaring Gap was started in 1890. It was created as a summer resort. An industrialist named Alexander Chatham from Elkin, North Carolina helped establish it. He was also a founder of the Chatham Manufacturing Company. The community got its name because of the loud noise the wind makes. This sound happens when the wind rushes through the mountains in the area.

Golf and Recreation in Roaring Gap

Roaring Gap is home to three golf and country clubs. These include High Meadows Country Club, Roaring Gap Club, and Olde Beau Golf Club. Inside the Roaring Gap Club, there is a 54-acre reservoir called Lake Louise. It's a great spot for water activities.

YMCA Camp Cheerio
