Robert II of Dreux was an important French noble who lived from 1154 to 1218. He was the Count of Dreux and Braine. Robert was the oldest son of Robert I, Count of Dreux, and Agnes de Baudemont. He was also the grandson of King Louis VI of France.
Robert II was known for being a brave knight and a leader in several important wars. He played a part in the Third Crusade, a big religious war. During this crusade, he fought in the Siege of Acre and the Battle of Arsuf.

Robert's Military Adventures
Robert II was involved in many conflicts during his life. He fought in a war in Normandy against the English kings. This war lasted from 1193 to 1204.
Battles and Sieges
In 1193, Robert took control of the castle of Nonancourt. He seized it from Richard I of England, who was a famous king also known as Richard the Lionheart. At that time, King Richard was held prisoner in Germany.
Robert also joined the Albigensian Crusade in 1210. This was another religious war in southern France. In 1214, he fought alongside King Philip Augustus of France. They fought together in the important Battle of Bouvines. This battle was a major victory for France.
Family Life and Children
Robert II was married twice during his life. His first marriage was to Mahaut of Burgundy in 1178. This marriage ended in 1181. They separated because they were distant relatives. They did not have any children together.
Robert's Second Marriage
His second marriage was to Yolande de Coucy. She was the daughter of Ralph I, Lord of Coucy. Robert and Yolande had several children together.
