History of Robertsfors Municipality
The story of Robertsfors Municipality began in 1759. A small village named Edfastmark changed its name to Robertsfors Bruk. This happened because an Irishman named John Jennings and his brother-in-law, Robert Finlay from Scotland, started a new ironworks there.
They named the ironworks, and later the area, Robertsfors, after Robert Finlay. An ironworks is a place where iron is made and shaped into different products.
