Robin Leach became very well-known for hosting a TV show called Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous. This show aired from 1984 to 1995. Early Life and First Jobs
Robin Leach was born in London. His parents were Violet Victoria and Douglas Thomas Leach. When he was 14, Robin went to Harrow County School for Boys. There, he was the editor of his school's magazine, The Gayton Times.
At just 15 years old, he started working as a news reporter for the Harrow Observer newspaper. After he graduated, he earned £6 each week. This was the start of his long career in journalism.
Becoming a TV Star
Moving to America
When Robin was 18, he started working for the Daily Mail newspaper. He was the youngest "Page One" reporter in Britain. In 1963, he moved to the United States. Even though he lived in America, he always kept his English accent. This accent later became a special part of his TV personality.
He wrote for many American newspapers and magazines. These included the New York Daily News and People. He also helped start GO Magazine in 1967. Later, he became the show business editor for The Star.
From Newspapers to Television
Robin Leach began his TV career on a show called AM Los Angeles. He was a regular guest reporter. He also reported for People Tonight on CNN and Entertainment Tonight. He even helped start Good Morning Australia and worked with the Food Network.
In 1993, Robin hosted a special TV show about the singer Madonna. It was called Madonna Exposed. He also hosted other shows that were like Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous. These included Runaway with the Rich and Famous and Fame, Fortune and Romance.
Fun TV Appearances
Robin Leach made a special appearance on the family TV show Boy Meets World in 1995. He played himself in an episode called "On the Air." He also appeared at WrestleMania IV for the WWE. There, he read the rules for a championship tournament.
Later, in 2007, he hosted The Surreal Life: Fame Games on VH1. In 2010, he was the announcer for a NASCAR race in Las Vegas.
Life in Las Vegas
From 1999, Robin Leach lived in Las Vegas. He wrote for the Las Vegas Sun newspaper and a website called VegasDeluxe.com. He continued writing about entertainment and famous people.
He also appeared in a TV series called Most Expensivest with the rapper 2 Chainz. In one episode, they ate fancy food like blinis with caviar. Robin also helped narrate parts of that episode.
Family and Later Years
Robin Leach married Judith Desser in 1968. They later divorced in 1977. He had three sons named Steven, Gregg, and Rick.
In November 2017, Robin had a stroke while on vacation. He had another stroke in August 2018. Robin Leach passed away on August 24, 2018, just five days before his 77th birthday.
