Robinson Mesquita de Faria is a Brazilian politician. He served as the governor of the Rio Grande do Norte state in Brazil from 2015 to 2018.

About Robinson Faria
Robinson Mesquita de Faria was born in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, on April 12, 1959. He is married to Julianne Faria and they have six children.
One of his sons, Fábio Faria, is married to Patrícia Abravanel. She is the daughter of the famous TV presenter and businessman Silvio Santos.
Education and Early Career
Robinson Faria studied Law at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte. Before becoming a politician, he worked in the private sector.
He decided to start a political career in the Agreste region, where his family comes from. In 1986, Faria was elected as the youngest state deputy.
He spent 24 years serving as a state representative. During his last two terms, he was the President of the state legislature.
Political Leadership
Robinson Faria is the state president of the Party of National Mobilization (PMN). He also leads the largest political party in the Legislative Assembly of Rio Grande do Norte.
In the 2006 elections, he received the most votes for a state parliament member for the second time. He was also the second most-rated in the country based on the number of votes.
While in the Assembly, Faria held important roles. He was the Chairman of the Committee on Constitution and Justice twice. He also served as 1st Secretary, Vice President, and President.
In recent years, Robinson Faria led discussions on several important topics. These included farming, shrimp and fruit production, and building an oil refinery. He also worked on the construction of the São Gonçalo do Amarante International Airport.
Serving as Vice Governor
In 2010, Robinson Faria was elected as the vice governor. He ran alongside Rosalba Ciarlini, and their team won with 52.46% of the votes.
Serving as Governor
Robinson Faria was elected governor in the 2014 election. He won with 54.42% of the votes. His main opponent was Henrique Eduardo Alves, who received 45.58% of the votes.
