Rock Lee (Japanese: ロック・リー, Hepburn: Rokku Rī) is a fictional character from the Naruto anime and manga series. He was created by Masashi Kishimoto. Lee is a ninja from the village of Konohagakure.

He is part of Team Guy. The other members are Neji Hyuga, Tenten, and their leader, Might Guy. Rock Lee cannot use most ninja techniques like ninjutsu or genjutsu. Instead, he focuses only on taijutsu, which is a fighting style similar to martial arts. Lee has appeared in many Naruto movies and video games.

About Rock Lee

Rock Lee was created by Masashi Kishimoto. Kishimoto wanted Lee to show how someone can become strong even with weaknesses. He was surprised by how popular Lee became with fans. Because of this, Kishimoto often puts Lee in the front of promotional pictures.

Brian Donovan is the English voice actor for Rock Lee. He likes Lee because he sees him as a "knight in shining armor" who sometimes makes mistakes.

Rock Lee's Adventures

In the Naruto Story

Rock Lee is a ninja from Konohagakure. He is a member of Team Guy. Their leader, Might Guy, saw Lee's strong will to get better. Even though Lee could not use basic ninja techniques, Guy decided to help him. Guy trained Lee to become a powerful ninja using only taijutsu.

Lee believes that hard work can beat natural talent. He tries to be better than Neji Hyuga, who is seen as a "genius." Lee first appears in the Chunin Exams. These exams are held for ninja who want to move up in rank.

During the Chunin Exams, Lee fights Gaara. Gaara is a ninja from the village of Sunagakure. In this fight, Lee uses a special technique called the Eight Chakra Gates. These gates are like limits on the body's power. Opening them makes him much stronger and faster, but it also hurts his body. Even with this power, Gaara defeats Lee. Lee's left arm and leg are badly hurt, and he is told he might not be able to be a ninja anymore.

Tsunade, a medical ninja, returns to lead Konohagakure. She offers to operate on Lee. The surgery has a 50% chance of failing. But Guy encourages Lee to have the operation, and it works! Lee's arm and leg heal.

After his recovery, Lee joins a team led by Shikamaru Nara. They try to stop Sasuke Uchiha from leaving the village. Lee fights an enemy ninja named Kimimaro. He uses a unique fighting style called Potion Punch (酔拳, Suiken, literally "Drunken Fist"). When Kimimaro is about to win, Gaara arrives and helps Lee.

In the second part of the story, Lee becomes a Chunin. He and his team help save Gaara, who is captured by a group called Akatsuki. During the Fourth Shinobi War, Lee helps fight against a reanimated army. He also helps Naruto Uzumaki fight against powerful enemies like Obito Uchiha and Madara Uchiha.

Years after the war, Lee gets married and has a son named Metal Lee. In the end of the story, Lee is seen training with his son. In the movie Boruto: Naruto the Movie, Lee helps host the Chunin Exam.

Other Appearances

Rock Lee has appeared in many Naruto movies. In Naruto the Movie 3: The Animal Riot of Crescent Moon Island, he joins Team 7 for the movie. In the fourth movie, Lee helps Naruto, Sakura, and Neji protect a maiden. He also appears in a special video animation, taking part in a tournament.

Lee is a character you can play in almost all Naruto video games. This includes the Clash of Ninja and Ultimate Ninja game series. He sometimes uses special moves in the games that are not seen in the anime or manga. Lee also has his own spin-off manga and anime series called Rock Lee and his Ninja Pals.
