Rockaway Beach is a city located in Tillamook County, Oregon, in the United States. It's a fun place to visit on the coast. In 2010, about 1,312 people lived there.
The city is home to the Rockaway Beach Old Growth Cedar Preserve. This special wetland area opened in 2019. It covers about 46 acres (19 hectares). The preserve has a raised walkway that leads to a very old and huge cedar tree. This tree, called The Big Tree, is thought to be between 500 and 900 years old!

History of Rockaway Beach
The town of Rockaway was started in 1909. It was created by the Rockaway Beach Company as a seaside resort. This means it was a place where people could go for vacations by the ocean. The town was named after another famous beach, Rockaway Beach in New York.
A post office was opened in Rockaway in 1911. Just one year later, in 1912, a train line connected Rockaway to Portland. This made it much easier for people to visit. The city's name was officially changed to Rockaway Beach in 1987.
Did you know that the Pronto Pup, a type of corn dog, was invented in Rockaway? It was created here in the late 1930s!

Rockaway Beach is a coastal city. The United States Census Bureau says the city covers about 1.71 square miles (4.42 square kilometers) in total. Most of this area, about 1.60 square miles (4.14 square kilometers), is land. The rest, about 0.11 square miles (0.28 square kilometers), is water. This water includes parts of the ocean or nearby waterways.
