In 2020, there were 45 people living in Rodney. These people lived in 26 different households, and 18 of these were families.

The average age of people in Rodney was 55.8 years. About 15.6% of residents were under 20 years old. Many residents, 33.3%, were 65 years or older. The population was almost evenly split between males (55.6%) and females (44.4%).

What the 2010 Census Showed

Back in 2010, Rodney had 60 residents. There were 29 households, with 17 of them being families.

The racial makeup was mostly White (90.0%). Some residents were Native American (8.3%), and 1.7% were from two or more races.

The average age in 2010 was 45 years. About 28.3% of residents were under 18. The number of males and females was exactly the same, 50.0% each.

Education for Rodney's Students

Students in Rodney attend schools that are part of the Maple Valley–Anthon–Oto Community School District. This district helps provide education for children and teens in the area.

Rodney used to have its own school district called the Rodney Public School District. A permanent school building opened in the early 1900s. In 1900, 75 students were enrolled, and this number grew to 116 by 1925.

For a while, students in grades 1-10 went to school in Rodney. Older students, who were finishing high school, would go to nearby towns like Mapleton or Smithland.

In 1947, Rodney's school stopped offering high school grades. All high school students then went to Smithland. The district even paid for their tuition until 1955.

In 1960, residents voted for Rodney to join the new Maple Valley Community School District. The old Rodney School building was sold and taken down. Students started attending Maple Valley schools in 1961.

Later, on July 1, 2012, the Maple Valley district joined with the Anthon–Oto Community School District. This created the new Maple Valley–Anthon–Oto district, which serves students from Rodney today.
