Rodney White's Basketball Journey
Playing for the Detroit Pistons (2001–2002)
Rodney White was a high draft pick, chosen ninth overall. However, he did not play much for the Detroit Pistons. He appeared in only 16 games during the 2001–2002 season. He averaged 3.5 points in about 8 minutes per game.
Time with the Denver Nuggets (2002–2005)
The Denver Nuggets saw potential in Rodney White. In 2002, they traded two players and a future draft pick to get him. Rodney's time in Denver was a mix of good and bad. He showed flashes of great offense. But his defense was not always strong. This caused some issues with his coach.
Overall, he averaged 7.7 points in 186 games for the Nuggets. His best season was 2002–2003. He averaged 9 points in 72 games, sometimes starting for the team.
Moving to the Golden State Warriors (2005)
After the 2002–2003 season, the Nuggets got a top draft pick. They used it to choose Carmelo Anthony, another star player. This meant the Nuggets no longer needed Rodney White. In 2005, he was traded to the Golden State Warriors.
Rodney played in 16 games for the Warriors. He averaged 5.1 points in about 11 minutes per game. His last NBA game was on April 20, 2005. The Warriors won that game against the Utah Jazz. Rodney scored 2 points and got 1 rebound. The Warriors released him the next summer.
Playing Overseas (2005–2013)
After his time in the NBA, Rodney White played basketball in other countries. He played for many different teams, moving often.
- He first played in the Spanish League for Bàsquet Manresa.
- Then he joined Lagun Aro Bilbao, also in Spain. He left that team in November 2006.
- The next month, he played for Scavolini-Gruppo Spar Pesaro in the Italian League.
- In November 2007, he moved to China. He joined the Chinese League team Zhejiang Guangsha Lions.
- He then played in the Puerto Rican League for the Arecibo Captains.
- In the summer of 2008, he signed with Euroleague team Maccabi Tel Aviv. He left that team in December 2008.
- Rodney later played again for the Zhejiang Guangsha Lions in China.
- On June 15, 2011, he signed with the Anyang KGC basketball team in South Korea.
In 2012, he played for the Barako Bull Energy in the Philippine Basketball Association. He asked to leave the team after six games for family reasons. In 2013, he joined the Petron Blaze Boosters, also in the Philippines. He played only two games for them. He scored 14 points and got 14 rebounds in total.
