Rodrigo Felinto Ibarra Epitácio Maia (born 12 June 1970) is a Brazilian politician. He was the President of the Chamber of Deputies of Brazil from July 2016 to February 2021. He is a member of the Brazilian Social Democracy Party since 2022. Rodrigo Maia is the son of Cesar Maia, who was once the Mayor of Rio de Janeiro. He was elected five times as a congressman. He decided not to run for a sixth term in 2023.

About Rodrigo Maia
Rodrigo Maia was born in Chile. His father, Cesar Maia, was living there at the time. Rodrigo was registered at the Brazilian consulate in Santiago. He started studying economics at Candido Mendes University. However, he did not finish his course.
Early Career and Public Service
Before becoming a politician, Rodrigo Maia worked for banks like Banco BMG and Banco Icatu in the 1990s. From 1997 to 1998, he served as a Municipal Secretary. This role was for the Mayor of Rio de Janeiro.
In April 2012, he received a special honor. He was given the title of citizen of the State of Rio de Janeiro. This recognized his contributions to the state.
His Role in Finance
Since February 2023, Rodrigo Maia has been the CEO of Fin. This is the National Confederation of Financial Institutions. It shows his continued work in important public and private roles.
His Time as a Congressman
Rodrigo Maia has had a long career in public service. He served six terms in a row as a federal congressman. He represented the state of Rio de Janeiro. From 2016 to 2020, he was the Speaker of the House of Representatives. This made him the longest-serving Speaker in the history of the Chamber.
Changes in Political Parties
Maia was part of the Democrats party for many years. This party was formerly known as PFL. He was a member from 1996 to 2021. In 2021, he was removed from the party. This happened after he disagreed with the party's president, ACM Neto.
Personal Life
Rodrigo Maia is married to Vanessa Rahal Canado. He has five children. Their names are Ana Luisa, Ana Beatriz, Maria Antonia, Rodrigo, and Felipe.
