Rogers became a key "shipping point" for the Union Pacific Railroad. This means it was a place where goods and products were loaded onto trains to be sent to other towns, or unloaded from trains arriving in Rogers.
A post office first opened in Rogers in 1883. It closed for a short time in 1885 but reopened in 1887. The post office served the community for many years before closing permanently in 1988.
