Colfax County is a county located in the state of Nebraska in the United States. In 2020, about 10,582 people lived there. Its main town, or county seat, is Schuyler. Both the county and its main town are named after Schuyler Colfax. He was the Vice President of the United States from 1869 to 1873.

History of Colfax County
Colfax County was created in 1869 by the Nebraska government. It was formed when Platte County was divided into three smaller parts. The new county was named after Schuyler Colfax. At that time, he was the Vice President of the United States.
The town of Schuyler was chosen as the county seat. It was also named after Schuyler Colfax. Schuyler became an official town in 1870. The county's first courthouse was built there in 1872.
In 2020, Colfax County had a notable number of COVID-19 cases. At one point, it had one of the highest rates in the country.
