- Charlotte Holbrook lived and passed away in Rome in 1884. She was the grandmother of the famous author Laura Ingalls Wilder. Charlotte Holbrook is also the main character in a series of books called Little House: The Charlotte Years by Melissa Wiley. She is buried in the local cemetery in Rome.
