The Town of Rome is a community located in Adams County, which is in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. In 2020, about 3,025 people lived here. This was an increase from 2,720 people in 2010.

Several smaller communities are part of the Town of Rome. These include Lake Arrowhead, Lake Camelot, and Lake Sherwood. There are also two unincorporated communities called New Rome and Rome within the town.

The Town of Rome is found in the northwest part of Adams County. A large body of water called Petenwell Lake forms the western border of the town. This lake was created by damming the Wisconsin River.

Inside the town, you'll find three other lakes: Lake Arrowhead, Lake Sherwood, and Camelot Lake. These lakes were formed on Fourteenmile Creek, which is a smaller stream that flows into the Wisconsin River. The areas around these lakes are also named after them.

The United States Census Bureau says that the Town of Rome covers a total area of about 161.3 square kilometers (about 62.3 square miles). Most of this area, 140.2 square kilometers (54.1 square miles), is land. The remaining 21.2 square kilometers (8.2 square miles), which is about 13.13% of the total, is water.

Who Lives in Rome?

Based on the census from 2000, there were 2,656 people living in the Town of Rome. These people lived in 1,181 households, and 884 of these were families. The population density was about 49 people per square mile.

Most of the people living in Rome were White (98.42%). A small number were Native American (0.26%) or Asian (0.45%). Some people (0.83%) were from two or more racial backgrounds. About 0.26% of the population identified as Hispanic or Latino.

About 19.8% of the households had children under 18 living with them. Most households (68.8%) were married couples living together. About 20.9% of all households were made up of people living alone. Of those living alone, 8.7% were 65 years old or older. The average household had 2.25 people, and the average family had 2.57 people.
