Ronald Hewitt (born 21 January 1924 – died June 2011) was an English football player. He was a goalkeeper, which means he protected the goal. He played for several teams, including Sheffield United and Lincoln City, in the main Football League. He also played for other teams in 'non-League' football, which are professional teams not in the very top divisions.

Ron's Football Journey
Ron was born in Barrow Hill, England. He started playing football for a local team called Youlgreave. Later, he joined a big team, Sheffield United, which was in the top division of English football at the time.
Playing for Lincoln City
After Sheffield United, Ron moved to Lincoln City. He played his first game for Lincoln City in October 1948 against Fulham. He played three games for them before moving to Worksop Town, a team outside the top leagues.
Time at Grantham
In 1952, Ron joined Grantham, a team in the Midland Football League. He was the starting goalkeeper for the first game of the 1952–53 season.
During his time at Grantham, he played in two important cup finals called the Lincolnshire Senior Cup.
- In the first final, his team lost to Spalding United.
- In the second final, Grantham won 3–0 against Gainsborough Trinity.
Ron was a regular player for Grantham until the 1956–57 season. In his last season, another goalkeeper named David Brown played in many games instead of him. Ron's final game for Grantham was against Lincoln City Reserves. Overall, he played 205 games for Grantham. After leaving Grantham, he joined Spalding United.
Ron's Life Outside Football
During World War II, Ron was a Bevin Boy. This meant he worked in the coal mines to help the country during the war. After the war, he worked as a crane driver at Staveley Works until he retired.
Ron's nephew, Jamie Hewitt, also became a professional footballer. Jamie played for teams like Chesterfield and Doncaster Rovers. After retiring from playing, Jamie became a physiotherapist, helping athletes with injuries.
Ron Hewitt passed away in June 2011 in Chesterfield, Derbyshire. He was 87 years old.
