Ronald Darby (born January 2, 1994) is an American professional football player. He plays as a cornerback for the Jacksonville Jaguars in the National Football League (NFL). Before joining the NFL, he played college football for the Florida State Seminoles. He was chosen by the Buffalo Bills in the 2015 NFL Draft.
Darby has also played for other NFL teams, including the Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Commanders, Denver Broncos, and Baltimore Ravens. He is known for being a very fast runner, winning medals in sprinting at the 2011 World Youth Championships.
Early Life and High School Football
Ronald Darby grew up in Oxon Hill, Maryland. He went to Potomac High School, where he was a star athlete. He played many different positions in football, both on offense and defense.
Darby was especially good on defense as a cornerback. In 2011, his team's defense was very strong, allowing few points and getting four shutouts. He was named a High School All-American by USA Today and Sports Illustrated in 2011. He also played in the 2012 Under Armour All-American Game.
He was considered one of the best cornerback prospects in the country. He chose to play college football at Florida State.

At the 2011 World Youth Championships in Athletics, Darby won a bronze medal in the 200-meter race. He also finished fourth in the 100-meter race. He helped his team win a gold medal and set a new youth world record in the medley relay. His speed helped him a lot in football.
College Football Career
Ronald Darby played college football for the Florida State Seminoles from 2012 to 2014.
As a freshman in 2012, he was part of a strong Florida State defense. Even though he was a backup player, he made 18 tackles and broke up seven passes. For his great play, he was named the ACC Defensive Rookie of the Year. He was also recognized as a Freshman All-American.
In 2013, as a sophomore, Darby played in 14 games and started nine of them. He helped Florida State win the 2013 BCS National Championship game, which is a huge achievement in college football. He had 14 tackles and two interceptions that season.
In his junior year (2014), he started all 14 games and made 43 tackles. After this season, he decided to enter the NFL Draft.
Professional NFL Career
Ronald Darby was a top prospect for the 2015 NFL Draft. He showed off his speed and skills at the NFL Combine, which helped teams see his potential.
Buffalo Bills (2015–2016)
The Buffalo Bills drafted Ronald Darby in the second round, as the 50th overall pick, in the 2015 NFL Draft. He quickly became a starting cornerback for the team.
In his very first NFL game, he made six tackles and got his first career interception against Andrew Luck. He also intercepted Ryan Tannehill later that season. Darby was named the AFC Defensive Rookie of the Month for September. He finished his rookie year with 68 tackles, 21 pass deflections, and two interceptions. He was recognized as the Defensive Rookie of the Year by Pro Football Focus and made the PFWA All-Rookie Team.
In 2016, Darby continued to be a starting cornerback for the Bills. He played in 14 games, making 69 tackles and deflecting 12 passes.
Philadelphia Eagles (2017–2019)
In August 2017, Darby was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles. In his first game with the Eagles, he unfortunately dislocated his ankle. However, he returned later in the season and made his first interception as an Eagle.
Darby played a key role in the Eagles' defense that year. The team went on to win Super Bowl LII, defeating the New England Patriots 41–33. Darby had four tackles and two passes defended in the Super Bowl. This was a major highlight of his career!
In 2018, Darby started the season strong but suffered a torn ACL (a serious knee injury) in Week 10, which ended his season early. He finished with 43 tackles and one interception.
He re-signed with the Eagles for the 2019 season. He had two interceptions that year but was placed on injured reserve late in the season due to a hip injury.
Washington Football Team (2020)
Darby signed with the Washington Football Team in 2020. He started all 16 games that season, showing his durability and skill. He finished with 54 tackles and 16 pass deflections, helping the team.
Denver Broncos (2021–2022)
In 2021, Darby signed with the Denver Broncos. He was placed on injured reserve early in the season but returned to play.
Unfortunately, in Week 5 of the 2022 season, he suffered another torn ACL, which ended his season. He was released by the Broncos in March 2023.
Baltimore Ravens (2023)
In August 2023, Darby signed with the Baltimore Ravens. He played in 16 games for the Ravens, helping their defense.
Jacksonville Jaguars (2024–present)
Ronald Darby signed a two-year contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars in March 2024, where he continues his NFL career.
