Ronald McDonald is a famous clown character. He is the main mascot for the McDonald's fast-food restaurants. You can easily spot him with his bright yellow and red striped clothes and his fun, wacky red hair.
Ronald McDonald lives in a magical place called McDonaldland. He shares his home with many other fun characters. These friends include Grimace, the Hamburglar, Birdie the Early Bird, Mayor McCheese, and the Fry Kids.
The clown Michael Polakovs, also known as Coco the Clown, helped create Ronald's look. He designed Ronald's special clothes and make-up. Ronald first appeared in television commercials in 1963. Michael Polakovs was in the first eight of these commercials. An actor named Jeff Giuliano played Ronald McDonald on TV for many years. Later, he decided he no longer wanted to promote hamburgers.
