Making the Show
The music for The Wacky Adventures of Ronald McDonald was created by Mark Mothersbaugh and Bob Mothersbaugh. They are famous for being in the band Devo. They also wrote music for another popular Klasky Csupo show, Rugrats.
The first episode was directed by John Holmquist. He also directed some episodes of Rugrats. The cartoon style of this show looked a lot like other Klasky Csupo cartoons. These included Rugrats, Aaahh!!! Real Monsters, The Wild Thornberrys, and Rocket Power.
Each episode of the show started and ended with live-action parts. This was similar to how shows like The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! worked.
The VHS tapes of the show were very popular. Many McDonald's restaurants often ran out of them! You could buy a tape for $3.49. Sometimes, you could get it with a small vanilla ice cream cone or a Diet Coke. The company that made the show, Klasky Csupo, also sold the tapes online for a while.
In 1999, McDonald's released a Happy Meal with Lego vehicles. Each vehicle had a picture of a McDonaldland character on it, drawn in the same style as the show.
