Rongellen is a small town, also called a municipality, in the canton of Graubünden in Switzerland. It is part of the Viamala Region.
History
Rongellen was first mentioned in official records in the year 1344. Back then, it was known as Rungal.
Geography
Rongellen covers an area of about 2 square kilometers (which is about 0.77 square miles).
Most of the land in Rongellen is covered by forests, making up about 63.2% of the area. About 15.2% of the land is used for farming. A smaller part, 5.4%, has buildings and roads. The rest of the land, about 16.2%, includes things like rivers, glaciers, or mountains that are not used for farming or building.
Before 2017, Rongellen was in a different area called the Schams sub-district. After 2017, it became part of the Viamala Region. The town itself is made up of scattered farmhouses and small groups of houses. These homes are located in a clear area along the old Viamala road.
People and Population
Rongellen has a small population. As of the most recent count, there are 56 people living there. About 11.1% of the people in Rongellen are from other countries. Over the last 10 years, the number of people living here has gone down a little, by about 4.3%.
In 2000, about 53.3% of the people were male and 46.7% were female. The age groups in 2000 were:
