Thusis is a town in Switzerland. It is located in the Graubünden canton, which is like a state. Thusis is part of the Viamala Region. In the past, it was also known as Tosana in Italian and Tusàn in Romansh. On January 1, 2018, the nearby town of Mutten became part of Thusis.

History of Thusis
Thusis was first mentioned in records way back in 1156. It was called Tosana then. The town has faced many challenges. More than ten fires have damaged it over the centuries. After a big fire in 1845, the town had to be rebuilt almost completely.
Geography and Location
Thusis covers an area of about 6.8 square kilometers. A large part of this area, about 58%, is covered by forests. About 18% of the land is used for farming. Buildings and roads make up about 15% of the area. The rest, about 8.6%, includes rivers and mountains.
Thusis is an important center in the Viamala Region. It sits where two rivers, the Hinterrhein and Nolla, meet. Thusis is also at the end of the impressive Viamala canyon. Since 1875, the nearby village of Übernolla has been part of Thusis.
People and Population
Thusis has a population of about 3,300 people. Around 23% of the people living here are from other countries. Over the last ten years, the town's population has grown slowly.
Most people in Thusis speak a Swiss German dialect. Only a small number, about 5%, speak the local Romansh. It is believed that German speakers started moving to the area in the 1400s. They came from southern Germany and the Valais region.

Thusis is located southwest of the city of Chur. You can easily reach Thusis by car using the A13 Autobahn. There are two exits for Thusis, Junctions 20 and 21. The Rhaetian Railway also has train services that stop at the Thusis railway station.

Thusis has been home to some notable people:
- Anton Aberle (1876 – 1953): He was a German-Swiss architect.
- Luzius Rüedi (1900 – 1993): He was a Swiss ice hockey player. He won a bronze medal at the 1928 Winter Olympics.
- Lisa Rüedi (born 2000): She is also a Swiss ice hockey player. She has competed in the Olympics twice.
