Cazis (called Tgazas in Romansh) is a small town in the Viamala Region of the Swiss area called Graubünden. On January 1, 2010, several smaller towns like Portein, Präz, Sarn, and Tartar joined with Cazis to form a bigger community.

History of Cazis
Cazis was first mentioned in old writings way back in the year 926. At that time, it was known as Cacias.
Geography and Land Use
Cazis covers an area of about 7.3 square kilometers (about 2.8 square miles). A big part of this land, about 41%, is used for farming. Another 41.1% is covered by forests. The rest of the land includes buildings and roads (13.6%), and natural areas like rivers or mountains (4.3%).
Cazis is located on the western side of the Hinterrhein river valley. It includes the main village of Cazis and several smaller areas called hamlets, such as Ober- and Unterrealta, Luvreu, Ratitsch, Summaprada, Schauenberg, and Valleina.
People of Cazis

Important Historical Sites
Some places in Cazis are considered very important historical sites for Switzerland. These include:
- The Cresta, which is a very old settlement from prehistoric times.
- The Chapel St. Wendelin.
- The Catholic Church of St. Martin.
Transportation
Cazis has three train stations: Cazis, Rodels-Realta, and Rothenbrunnen. These stations are all on the train line that goes between Landquart and Thusis. You can catch regular trains from here to places like Chur and St. Moritz.
