Präz covers an area of about 11.3 square kilometers (4.4 square miles). This information is from 2006.

Almost half of this land, 45.3%, is used for farming. Another large part, 47.9%, is covered by forests.

The town is located in the Thusis sub-district, which is part of the Hinterrhein district. It sits on the Heinzenberg mountains.

Präz itself is a haufendorf, which means it's a village that grew without a clear plan. Its buildings are quite close together around a central area.

The area also includes two smaller settlements called hamlets: Dalin and Raschlinas. You can also find scattered farmhouses around.

As mentioned, Präz, along with Portein, Sarn, and Tartar, became part of Cazis on January 1, 2010.
